Located at Main Street and Ferndale, Station No. 1 is situated on approximately 18 acres of land, which is also the site for the fire department’s training facility, pavilion, softball diamond and Banquet Hall. It also houses most of our apparatus including two class ‘A’ engines, a heavy rescue, ladder truck, class III ambulance and two utility trucks. Station No. 1 also has a diesel-powered generator, which is capable of powering the entire facility for several days before refueling.

Located on Sheridan between Belvoir and Youngs Road, Station No. 2 is used a secondary site for responding apparatus. Main-Transit Station No. 2 houses one class ‘A’ engine and a light rescue, but as an additional bay for a third responding vehicle if necessary.

Coverage area indicated by blue shading is roughly approximate. Main-Transit also works with neighboring fire departments (Hutchinson HC, Snyder FD, Getzville FC, East Amherst FD, Eggertsville HC, North Bailey FC, etc), as well as other towns outside of Amherst, when mutual aid is needed – increasing our effective coverage area significantly.
