Proudly Serving the Town of Amherst
The Main-Transit Fire Department is a 100% volunteer organization, proudly serving the town of Amherst since 1936. Operating from two separate fire stations, we service a district of approximately 5.2 square miles with emergency medical, fire and motor vehicle rescue.
Active Volunteers
The Main-Transit Fire Department consists of a membership of over 90 Active Members, a Ladies Auxiliary, an Exempt Association, and a Junior Firefighter program.
NYS Certified
All active members are required to have passed New York State certified courses in firefighting, and maintain First Aid certifications.
