Performance Under Pressure
Main-Transit has a NYS-Santioned Firematic Drill Team (affectionately nicknamed the “Slo Pokes”), which regularly competes in competitions around the state.
These competitions emphasize Skill Standardization Under Pressure (aka Performance Under Pressure), where teams are required to execute:
• Precise commands
• Coordinated movements
• Skilled equipment handling
The competitions themselves, exist to build disciplined firefighters, strengthen leadership, preserve tradition, and keep volunteer departments active and cohesive—with competitions acting as the motivator rather than the end goal. All in the pursuit of making every second count!
These exciting competitions are open to the public to watch in person, or on demand via YouTube, or live streamed when available.
