Spotlight: Main-Transit fire engine #1

Engine#1

Our fire engines help us ensure the safety of our community.

Engine #1 is a 2009 Sutphen Class "A" Fire Pumper. It responds out of Main-Transit Fire Station No. 1, and features a variety of advanced engineering features including:

  • an 8 firefighter cab
  • self contained breathing apparatus (air packs) for each firefighter riding on the engine
  • 1,500 gallon per minute top mount Hale pump,
  • 750-gallon water tank,
  • a 30-gallon foam tank filled with F-500 foam and
  • an 8,000 watt Smart Power Pro generator powering six 750-watt flood lights.

 

With almost a half-mile of hose on board which includes 1,000 feet of 5-inch diameter supply hose and numerous pre-connected attack hose lines, Engine 1 is equipped to handle any firematic situation, utilizing a large array of tools including but not limited to:

  • large exhaust ventilation fans
  • electric cord reels
  • hose couplings
  • EMS equipment and a defibrillator

Our softball games are played on Friday evenings followed by get-together between departments players, members, family and fans. This has helped establish a close friendship amongst neighboring departments that often work together in mutual aid.
